Scary Thought of the Day
Jan. 27th, 2003 11:30 pmWhile we were doing Aqua Aerobics I noticed the tape the instructor was playing had older songs than I'm used to hearing in class. It had lots of Roy Orbison, the Beatles, Blondie, the Bee Gees, Herman's Hermits, Blondie, and the Go-Gos.
Then it hit me: This is what they're going to be playing at us when we're senior citizens in old fogey homes. Eeep.

The much-vaunted 1960s, which many regard as a high water mark in popular music, saw an unconscionable amount of throwaway garbage hit the airwaves. Grab a copy of Billboard's top 40 from a random week in, say, 1968. Bet you'll never have heard of three-fourths of the songs in it.
