Claim: Procter & Gamble supports the overturning of a Cincinnati charter amendment that prohibits the City Council from enacting any protections specifically aimed at gays and lesbians.
Status: True.
This is a list of the products Procter & Gamble manufactures. The "American Family Association" wants you to boycott them. If, however, you support what Procter & Gamble is doing, I recommend you let them know by buying their products and calling Chairman A.G. Lafley at 513-983-1100 and politely let him know that you are encouraging others to support Procter & Gamble by buying their products and will ask others to do the same.

Date: 2004-09-27 10:06 pm (UTC)Thank you for the P&G boycott list! Now I know what products to buy to counter your boycott. So helpful!
Maybe not such a good idea, but it's not like I gave them real info, and it was fun. :)
I'm thinking that I'm also going to at least write to P&G with my support.
Thanks hon, I'm glad to know about this.

Date: 2004-09-28 09:08 am (UTC)Since I often listen to an NPR station based in Cincinnati, I hear about the dreaded Article 12 regularly (not to mention the racial tension exacerbated by the city police). It's a heinous piece of legislation; the only city in the country to have such a rule on the books. I believe the station mentioned P&G's employee write-in plan last month.
It doesn't surprise me that Wildmon and his ilk are stirring the pot. He's one of the most well-known and reviled right-wing rabble-rousers out there. And Cincinnati is one of the most conservative cities in the country. You can't even buy a copy of Playboy anywhere in Hamilton County.
