State officials responsible for recording nuptials said Friday [February 13th] that they will accept only standard license forms, which use "an unmarried man" and "an unmarried woman."
If a form is altered or not completed correctly, "It would be returned to the county," said Terri Delgadillo, a deputy health secretary. "We would not record it at the state level."

Date: 2004-02-20 06:21 pm (UTC)(Just because something was supported by some "majority of voters somewhere" does not make it right or ethical - many people wanted to keep the vote from blacks and women, and prevent "different races" from marrying.... but part of the job of laws is to PROTECT MINORITIES from being stomped on by the "majority".)
