Okay. I'm not up to making a joke out of this, but like everyone else, I wish for peace.

There. I said it.

We now return you to our regular whining and kvetching.

Heh. Over here we have a chain of computer shops (stores) called "PC World". I've always wanted to see one of their PCs whirled... Or possibly hurled... =>:o}

And my mind keepa shying away from the prospect of seriously getting around to filking one of their adverts, complete with the closing jingle along the lines of:

Spoken:
"...and where can you find all these amazing things?"
Sung:
"Where in the world...?
Pixie World!"

I'm uncomfortable taking a political stand of any kind in a public place because I'm a journalist.

Peace is a good thing. I did not say how we should achieve peace, only that I'd like it.

During the Gulf War, right after a memo went around NASA (where I was working) telling us we weren't allowed to express any anti-Bush sentiment, Kanef had a housefilk. Kanef also works at NASA. He invited co-workers, a couple of whom I knew from the NASA Toastmaster's Club, which for me turned this into a work function in terms of "free speech."

The SF Bay Area, especially the filk community, has a lot of peaceniks. One after one, the filk started turning into an anti-war rally. At the time I was singing with a trio, one of whose members works for Lockheed, a company that makes defense equipment. Robin (said member) was getting increasingly uncomfortable, as was I.

Eventually I broke in with the following parody:

"Everybody's talking 'bout sausage and onion and mushrooms and peppers and anchovies, pepperoni...
All we are saying...is give pizza chance!
All we are saying...is give pizza chance!"

It broke the tension.
