Why Apple rocks
Feb. 3rd, 2011 09:29 pmOn the way home, something horrible happened to Studmuffin (my new MacBook Pro). I'd been having random problems with the graphics for a while, but it went really wonky when I got home from Conflikt. I took Studmuffin to the Apple Store Monday evening after work. They quoted me "five to ten business days." I'm typing this on my fully-repaired Studmuffin now. This was way faster than I expected to get my computer back.
To think, folks wonder why Apple customers are so loyal....

Date: 2011-02-04 06:28 am (UTC)Oh why not.
search not finding name of original sender of fwded mail.
Entirely too much time spent on this!
My report:
Low priority but a nuisance, and could be serious sometimes:
In my personal email account I received a message
> From: Mullins, Bill AMRDEC <[email]>
I forwarded it to my work email, and it is in my Inbox now
> From: Mark Mandel <[email>
with the originator's "from" line right under "---Forwarded message---".
But the Mail Search does not find it. See screenshots in
/ldc/home/mamandel/profile/tmp/ticket documentation/Mail search
AFAICT I'm following the directions in
Mail : Help : Mail Help : Searching mailboxes:

The From and To fields referred to are the From and To fields of a messages header. Forwarding an email does nothing more than copy limited header information (the "envelope") and the body of a message into the body of a new message, there's nothing special about the "Forwarded Message" information, it's simply body text (which not all mail clients generate in the same fashion). You can search the entire body of the message for the "From:" string which is essentially what would be needed for the functionality you're looking for, with all of the issues that carries with it.
I answer -- or rather, I did answer, but I can't find the R$%^&*(P_)(*RE%^&*()P_)((*&*( letter in my mailbox now
I did that : search in full text. See these four screenshots. It ain't workin'.
Oh god I have got to get to bed.
