The reason why she's invoking my name is because I came up with a recipe for Margarita Jell-O about fifteen years ago. And yes, it jells - the trick is to reduce the water by at least as much as the alcohol you're adding.

Try this:
Large box of lime Jell-O
2 cups boiling water
1 cup cold water
1/2 cup Tequila
1/4 cup Triple Sec

Mix it up the usual way. The proportions are easy to remember if you note that each quantity is half the one before...

The Kraft Foods website -- which the graphic is based on -- lists several margarita recipes, but they use Crystal Lite, not Jell-O.

My understanding is the Jell-O people are quite aware that people make alcoholic desserts using their product, but they prefer to hang onto the family-friendly image and therefore they don't distribute recipes using booze and Jell-O.
