The specify original and remake on other parts of the list, but not on this movie. I've seen the original, but not the remake. So do I check this off or not? :-)

Also, I wonder if "The Parent Trap 2" is the 1986 TV movie or the 1998 remake of the original.

Parent Trap 2 is the TV thing with grown-up Haley Mills. The remake is just called "Parent Trap". It's ok, other than the total absurdity of one of the kids' pranks on potential-stepmommy SERIOUSLY crossing the line into life-threatening, and nobody reacting on that account.

They had several where they don't specify original vs remake. For example, I've seen the "Rat Pack" version of Ocean's 11 but not the recent remake. Since they included the Ocean's 12 sequel to the recent remake on the list I kinda think they are referring to the recent Ocean's 11. Bedazzled is another one where I saw the original but not the remake. So I come in "around 40" depending on their intent.

If I were to guess, I'd say (a) that they are thinking of the recent versions unless they specify old and new, and (b) that this was originally started among high school students. The whole bit about "if you have seen more than X you need to get a life" seems very time related. Someone in their teens who has seen 70 of these movies is in a much different "need to get a life" category than someone in their 50s who has seen 70 of these movies. And if it was indeed started by the HS crowd, it's easier to see how they might not know about earlier versions even existing.

Re: the age of who wrote the quiz, I agree. I noticed the movies were heavily skewed towards what a teen or 20-something might consider "worth watching."

Seeing some of your 'not seens', I do recommend you try viewing 'Big Trouble in Little China'. It's pretty darned funny.

I've seen 57 of 'em!

But 58 if you mean the original good version of Bedazzled instead of the Brenden Fraser idiotic remake. And I too have seen both Parent Traps and the sequal to the original. And I've seen fairly significant portions (meaning over 1/3) of several more.

Most of them were seen on TV while I was multi-tasking so I won't agree with the idea I need to 'get a life'. Neeners. :)

...at least as far as I can remember and am absolutely certain of having seen.

I count 6 more that I have seen at least part of but probably have not seen all the way through, and certainly never at one sitting: a consequence of having a daughter, mostly.

I have 15 more that I'm simply not sure of. Memory fades, or perhaps I have seen older versions. For a number of years, I was a member of a film club that showed several movies per weekend; for some of those years, I ran the popcorn stand and saw almost every movie. I've surely seen hundreds if not over 1,000. I've had 50 years on the planet, after all; that only requires averaging 20 per year.

And there are at least 2 that I own but have never watched. Again, a family thing. There may be more.

It would be interesting to try to make a list going a bit farther back in time. And there are many contemporary ones not on the list.
