They found internal hemorrhoids, but not much else of interest (I have these lovely photos....).

Now that the colon exam is over, the phosphate thing they had me drink to clean out my intestines is finally working. Ugh.

This doctor used percogesic and versed (the drug that wires me). I'm kind of like a wide-awake drunk right now.

it looks like I may be stuck spending a second night here in The Big House. They don't seem to believe in Passover or matzoh. I had a rough time explaining to the nurse why sandwiches (all they serve midday) were not a viable option at this hour. Meanwhile, I'm desparately awaiting a diet Coke to battle what feels like a mild caffiene-withdrawal headache.

Having Internet access from the hospital rocks. I feel way less isolated. I just wish Lady could IM me with more than giberish. :-)

What part of "I cannot eat this now for religious reasons" do they not understand? If you were Catholic would they try to make you eat meat on Friday?

It's my impression -- and I may be wrong -- that in both circumstances, there are exceptions for illness/medical reasons. Besides one can't equate the Jewish dietary laws and those of Catholics. The latter are not universal (individual bishops decide what the rules are for their archdiocese) and can be changed to accomodate special events. So, for example, this past year, no-meat Friday was excepted in many US dioceses for St. Patrick's Day, as bishops felt that the traditional Irish-American celebration with corned beef was culturally more important than fasting. I can't imagine rabbis in conservative or orthodox situations suggesting anything similar.

Well, yes, there are exceptions for illness and medical reasons, but exceptions for illness and medical reasons are things like "matzah will make you sicker" not "the hospital can't be arsed to feed you something that isn't a sandwich".
