I have software called Xingtone that's supposed to let me create and upload ringtones to my cell phone. Xingtone's audio editor sucks doody, so I used Audacity to create the audio file and Xingtone to upload it.

The text message arrives on my phone with an e-mail address and a URL, the latter of which is supposedly where my ringtone lives. When I try to use the URL to get to the tone I get the message "Gateway not available." When I use Safari on the same URL I get "502 Bad Gateway."

Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong? I'm soooo close to having cool ringtones on my phone (as opposed to the yucky default ones).

Because it's only emergency, I got a pay-as-you-go Tracphone. The programming is really primitive, and so far as I can tell only supports a monophonic file, but who else gets to have "Space Chanty" as their ringtone?

BTW, Fred says "Hi" and suggests that if you want you can phone him for a recipe for a cheese sauce substitute made of brewer's yeast.

Believe it or not, I am allergic to brewer's yeast. I'm not allergic to bread yeast or the yeast they actually use to brew beer, but when I was 18 an allergist tested me for a bunch of things, and that was one of the odder ones that came out very positive.
