Yesterday CNN Headline News was doing a story on something to do with "Hamsters for Kerry." As part of my job at KLIV, I tried to localize the story by calling two pet stores in the San Jose area to ask if there had been a run on hamsters. The first one hung up on me, then put me on hold indefinitely, then put me on hold again. The second hung up on me. Twice.

I even identified myself! At least the 2nd store told me how much they sold for ($12.95/apiece!).

Oh well...off to Sunday brunch to tell this tale to others.

Huh. Are you sure someone didn't just completely misunderstand the "Kerry is my hampster" phenomenon?

CNN was doing the feature. It was called "Hamsters for Kerry" and was based on his daughter's speech about his rescuing a drowned hamster and giving it CPR.
