Creek.

2. What the thing you push around the grocery store?
A shopping cart

3. A metal container to carry a meal in?
Lunch box

4. The thing that you cook bacon and eggs in?
Frying pan

5. The piece of furniture that seats three people?
Sofa or couch

6. The device on the outside of the house that carries rain off the roof?
Gutter or rain gutter

7. The covered area outside a house where people sit in the evening?
"Porch" if in the front of the house; if in the rear, "patio" if open, "sun room" if enclosed.

8. Carbonated, sweetened, non-alcoholic beverages?
Sodas

9. A flat, round breakfast food served with syrup?
Pancake

10. A long sandwich designed to be a whole meal in itself?
Hero or sub(marine). "Hoagie" refers to a specific subset of the genre

11. The piece of clothing worn by men at the beach?
Bathing trunks or swim trunks if the "longer" kind; "Speedo" to refer to the bikini-kind

12. Shoes worn for sports?
Sneakers or athletic shoes. I usually refer to the shoes by an adjective that describes the sport for which they apply, such as "walking shoes" or "tennis shoes."

13. Putting a room in order?
Straightening up, tidying, picking up

14. A flying insect that glows in the dark?
Lightning bug

15. The little insect arthropod that curls up into a ball?
I have no idea what this one refers to.

16. The children's playground equipment where one kid sits on one side and goes up while the other sits on the other side and goes down?
Seesaw (or see-saw)

17. How do you eat your pizza?
Depends upon the type of pizza:

• If New York style, grab the crust in my right hand, supporting the rest of the slice with my left hand, slightly folding it in the middle
• If Chicago-style, with a fork and knife
• Generic Californian: Hold crust with index finger, using thumb to support slice
• If too hot or drippy to handle, I'll use a fork and knife

Thought I'd see if I could find out what the bug was, and found this page where it gives you a run-down of the arthropod in question.

I called them "potato bugs" growing up. Haven't seen one in years.

In the UK they are known as "woodlice". It was years before I found the variety which can't curl up, and then I thought there was something wrong with them (I've also known people who had never seen the curling up kind, it seems to be regional)...
