Sep. 5th, 2003 10:19 pmShamelessly stolen from lots of other folks. Answer the questions in my comments, and I'll answer back #5 there.
1. How did you first find my journal?
2. Why did you originally decide to friend me?
3. What's your favorite part of my journal?
4. What's your least favorite part of my journal?
5. Ask me a question. Be as random as you want.
6. Have you ever met me in person?

Date: 2003-09-08 08:45 am (UTC)It's an old boys network sort of thing called the Turtle Club.
When asked if you are a turtle, you are honor-bound to give the correct answer, regardless of the circumstances (weddings, fuunerals press conferences...)
Alan Shepard was asked if he was a turtle over the open radio channel during his Mercury flight in 1961 when saying that on the air would've been Bad. He calmly switched the radio off, answered "You bet your sweet ass I am", which was picked up by the on-board tape recorder, and went on with the flight. I've read the official NASA transcript. "Are you a turtle?" is in the transcript, with a footnote describing that as "a private joke".
