Cuckoo for Coco Wheats

Yesterday I tried them. I like them. The cocoa in them is rather mild. I can see how a cereal like this, when eaten by a young kid, could imprint for a lifetime.

I had another bowl today. It's not as intense a chocolate hit as I might like, but it's pleasant.

There's no sugar in Coco Wheats. You have to sweeten it yourself. That was one of the things that drew me to the cereal in the first place.

Here's a question for ya. When people ask me why I'm leaving my current employer, how do I respond?

Here are some stock answers:

• I'm looking for a change.
• I'm looking to grow in a different direction than I'm able to in my current job.
• Your opportunity looked interesting.
• I'm looking for different challenges, and the current situation doesn't allow me the kinds of opportunities I'm looking for. (Be prepared to talk about what you are looking for!)
• There was a change in management, and I'm not happy with the direction the company is going. (Be prepared to talk about it in "positive" terms -- what you would like to see rather than what you don't like.)
• I'm looking for a different kind of company. (This works best if you're in a small company and interviewing at a larger firm or vice-versa.)

In one case I was able to be blunt because the company's stock had nosedived from $25/share when I started to $5/share nearly a year later. I didn't have to say "management isn't paying me what I'm worth," but instead used the stock market reference (which they could look up) to see I wasn't making this up.

When I was leaving a job because I was put under a junior f***ed-up boss who clearly wanted me out, I was lucky because AOL was buying out the company. I was just able to say "I don't want to work for AOL because I don't think my job will be around in a year." (I lost one job in the final interview that way, but I actually turned out to be dead-on right.)
