i'd like to wriggle in to make a recommendation: rinse your skin often to make sure you've got anything residual from the pores {which can dry your skin & make more itchy but will probably be better in the long run than continuing an allergic reaction}, drink a ton of water, take vitamin E and anything else you can that is "good" for the skin or encourages new skin growth & processing. just to try to speed up the repair from the inside and help the skin grow and clean itself out.
i've had great luck with combinations of the new lanacane(anti-bac/cortisone) cream [ointments NEVER] and the GoldBond green lotion with menthol. *gaaaaaah* the Menthol smells a bunch but *oooooooh* Feels So Good!
good luck! ~B~ <-victim of an INSIDEOUS itch for many moons, actually getting it under wraps this year.
