First of all, you have to hear [livejournal.com profile] markiv1111 play guitar to believe it. I have one song in my repertoire ("Martha Stewart Dream") with a guitar lick so difficult he's the only person I've ever met who could play it. (I can't even play it!)

He also writes amazing stuff, and with his wife Louie, comprises half of an incredible couple, both musically and personally.

Thanks

Ya know, at this point (what has it been, nine months since GaFilk?) I don't even remember the Martha Stewart song. And I'm a bit surprised that I managed to learn a guitar lick accurately when you (from the sound of things) didn't play it well enough yourself to show it to me. But I'm so glad you have those positive things to say -- I have given *so much* of my life to being a musician, that it's just great to find out that it wasn't wasted! Louie and I are still doing just great as a couple, but not so much as a musical duo; finding the gigs (and being absolutely sure that we've rehearsed for them sufficiently) just hasn't been worth the effort, and now that I'm playing with The Phonics, there are likely to be scheduling conflicts -- though we did make it to a wonderful music party last Saturday.

By the way, I have been (and will continue to be) utterly enthralled by your stories of life in the radio business. Please keep us posted, and I *know* all will work out positively for you in the end.

Nate

I only played you the guitar lick from "Martha Stewart Dream" -- kinda sorta. I demonstrated with my fingers what it was (it's a run in an A major/minor barred fingering with hammers changing the key from major to minor. You were able to play it cleanly; I still can't and will likely have to fake it on my CD.

I'm hoping the radio stuff will work out into a real career. I've been wanting to make this change for decades, and I'm not getting any younger.
