I broke down and did it
Mar. 22nd, 2006 11:03 amI have had a cell phone since 1987. I still have the original analog one that was bolted into my old car (it's bolted into the FIGMObile). As cellular networks change, I keep having to upgrade phones. (As my phone started shorting out, I also knew it was overdue for an upgrade.)
Yesterday I finally migrated from my AT&T plan to Cingular. Cingular bought out my old carrier over a year ago, but I've been dragging my heels. I also learned I needed to upgrade Warren's and my phones (I have us on a "family plan" because it saves me money for him to have a cell phone) to take advantage of the new GSM network.
It turned out the cheapest phone we could get that allowed me to "beam" phone numbers into it had a camera. Uck. Oh well. We got 'em. I even managed to talk the dealer into giving us the phones for free because they took so long to process me. They're Nokia 6120s, for those of you who care. The best part about the deal, though, is I'll save at least $10/month on the new plan. Officially it's $15/month cheaper, but Cingular charges for text messages while AT&T didn't.
Now I need to find time to read the manual and exercise all its features.
