I just did the culinary equivalent of playing in the mud: I fried up a pound of bacon.

It's been years since I fried a pound of bacon. I've microwaved it many times, but I can safely say it had been over a decade since I last cooked it in a frying pan. I'm not a "crunch" person, but I like things lightly crispy.

Yum.

Work at the station was strenuous. The automation computer crashed, so I had to keep pulling carts out of the computer and playing them live while Vince, the chief engineer, reprogrammed all the data into the computer.

Vince is really cool. Supposedly my boss at the station thought he was the janitor when she first met him because he was so casual, quiet, and unassuming. I've always liked working with him because, as far as I can tell, he has no prejudices; he just takes people as they are. When you're a highly technical and mathematical kind of gal, guys often don't know how to deal with you. Some of the staff members automatically talk down to me because I'm female, but Vince never has.

Anyhow, I had to run everything by hand, making it tricky, at best, to do much else. Fortunately for me Vince called my boss to tell her what was going on so she'd know not to get on my case. (Vince outranks her, but that's another matter.)

After my shift I fetched Warren and myself dinner (he was working 4pm-midnight), did some shopping, and now I'm home.

Time to finish chores and go to sleep.
