gridlore and
klwalton....
30 years ago I was in high school finishing up my first year in a private school. I had lost 25 pounds that year and was going out for sports for the first time in my life (girls' lacrosse).
20 years ago I was in a miserable marriage, in constant pain from nerve damage sustained two years earlier, in a job situation where there was no "up" to go to, and being pushed away by my then-husband from the career I wanted to pursue. We were living in a rented condo; the landlady was my secretary at work.
10 years ago I was single again, and was in a long-distance relationship that would've died on its own had someone not chosen to interfere with it (the relationship instead imploded rather badly). I now owned a different condo in the same building, this time sharing it with a pleasant female Bichon Frise named Fuzzball. I was contracting at Oracle and was close to getting a permanent offer to work for a really great boss and with a really great group of people. I was also working at Metro Traffic in San Jose as a producer/anchor.
5 years ago I was working at Netscape, and my body was starting to break down. I was having severe pains in my upper intestinal area from the stress of having too much work to do and not enough time in which to do it. Warren and I were an item, and I was now at KLIV/KARA as a news anchor/reporter. Fuzzball and I were still sharing the condo, which was becoming a living hell due to a few losers in the homeowners' association.
1 year ago I was contracting to Probix through an agency, still with KLIV, but KARA had been sold the month before, leaving Warren without a job. Fuzzball's ashes sit in a box on my fireplace mantle; I was breaking in a four-month-old (exactly!) Bichon Frise puppy I'd just named "Lady" as in "The Lady Of The House."
Yesterday I tried to finish up some work for Probix, but their laptop unit has a short in the connector to the power supply, so I was unable to do so.
Today I'm upgrading the other Mac in the house, going to see if I can get the power supply fixed, try to finish up the stuff for Probix, and resting.
Tomorrow I'm doing my regular shift at KLIV and maybe getting together with Warren and our friend Denny after work, depending on how they feel.
