Skin deep

Last week I noticed a bunch of white bumps appearing on my face. They weren't whiteheads or zits. I tried calling dermatology at PAMC (my doctor's office), but they didn't get back to me till the end of the day, saying "call us tomorrow morning and we'll try to squeeze you in."

The next day I slept into the afternoon; likewise for the day after that. Then I had to worry about job interviews interrupting the day.

I had a job interview yesterday. I have another with a different company Friday. I don't expect any interviews today and I woke up early enough, so I called. My appointment is at 3pm.

As I started waking further I noticed bumps on my hands. Itchy bumps. Under them appears to be another rash.

I don't know what I'm reacting to, but I'm glad I've got that appointment. I just wish it could come sooner, as I want the itching to stop.

Be careful if they prescribe something for it. What they gave me to suppress itching when I had hives was a CNS depressant that's roughly equivalent to three drinks per pill.

Best OTC stuff for itching that I've found is Aveeno.

They gave me atarax (an antihistamine) and some salve. I used them both last night and the rash was 90% gone today. I was going to go without the salve tonight, but I noticed the bumps and scaly stuff on the backs of my hands, so I'll probably use it after all (sigh).

Sometimes that can occur if you've changed detergents recently or if you washed too large a load of laundry (so that all the detergent didn't get washed off.)

It wasn't that. I am anal about the detergent I use (or rather, Warren uses). I am allergic to Tide powder and use All or a few other "Lynn-safe" liquids.

Also, the area with the rash wasn't wearing clothing (hands and forearms).

The doctor I saw yesterday thinks it was the Aleve I was taking for some back pain.
