Holiday Surprise: A Quiz

Warren walked into my bedroom Wednesday morning.

"Look! It's bright green!" He held the object in his hand out for me to see.

Now...guess what the object was?

DATA: "It is..."

[Slightly puzzled frown at lack of label. Enquiring sniff of contents.]

DATA: "It is - "

[Sudden doubtful frown. Slower, more careful sniff. Slight pause.]

DATA: "It is green."

Actually it was both! There was a TOS episode where Scotty or Chekov or someone said it (I forget who was giving him the drink or what it was; something Klingon?) and then a TNG episode where Data said it to Scotty. One of those cute instances of TNG making a little homage to the original. :)

Scotty was trying to get an alien (from Andromeda, I believe) drunk in order to overwhelm it with human sensation. Of course, you can't leave an alien to drink alone, so Scotty was getting good & smashed right along side him.
