We have a small back yard, and an door flap that's open from the time we wake up until right before we go to sleep. She doesn't go out at night, partially because the door flap is in Casey's room, and would wake him up, but also that our local raccoons would be happy to kick her little doggy ass. :) (She usually sleeps through the night unless intruders come into the yard.)
She's also so resistant to peeing in the house that the day we forgot to open the door, leaving her locked in for about 20 hours, she didn't pee in the house. I was amazed, and wouldn't have blamed her if she had.
