I don't get the acronym thing. Do you?

YES. "FIGMO" is an acronym; it comes from our beloved military ranks. They use it to describe the lackadaisical attitude one has when one is about to get out of the military. Because it takes so long to court marshall someone, when a soldier nearing discharge from the service is ordered to "clean the latrine with a toothbrush" or something equally unpleasant, they reply, "F*** it, I've Got My (discharge) Orders." Hence, they're said to have a "FIGMO" attitude.

I first came across the acronym when interning at New Jersey Public TV during the end of my senior year of high school. The production crew, most of which had done time in Vietnam, used to refer to us as having a "FIGMO" attitude.
